i was born this Thursday
22 years ago.
0. parents who actually wanted me, raised me, and loved me.
1. having a cool Harry Potter scar.
2. being the eldest of three funny sisters.
3. the zillions of pages i have read since i was about three.
4. starting Kindergarten early. being the youngest of all your peers gets cooler and cooler every year.
5. growing up around the Spanish language and Mexican culture.
6. moving around a lot in early childhood . . . so i don't fear change too much.
7. my parents' advice since i was very young: credit cards are evil.
8. growing up with a loving extended family, especially my mom's brother & sisters.
9. being a smarty pants, and being humbled often.
10. the year my great-grandmother sang me all ten or whatever verses of "Las Mañanitas" for my 10th birthday, which was the same year all us grandchildren sang it to my grandpa for his 70th.
11. having Kate as a friend since 6th grade.
12. a modest amount of musical ability, which brings much joy to my life.
13. Andrew and Gina Garland teaching me most of what i knew about the Bible and walking with God until i went to college.
14. deciding that i didn't want to date until i was out of high school and thought i might marry the guy.
15. being able to remember most of the stuff i learned in IB.
16. having good memories and no regrets (besides marching band!) from high school.
17. the year i was 17 - a one-time experience of maximum freedom and minimum responsibility.
18. the friends i made at UCLA (and the Starbucks pinata for my 18th birthday).
19. having to work all throughout college. it basically made me a grownup.
20. Ashley, Bethany, Elise, Linell, Jennie, Katy, Kendra.
21. Kevin Andrew Collier wanting to marry me.
22. (one to grow on) God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son, and the Holy Spirit.
and i feel stuck
watching history repeating
